The major area of my research work is “Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics”. More specifically, I am working on some low-dimensional flat band networks, with special thrust on the character of their spectral landscape, transport properties of such quasiperiodic geometries, deterministic fractal systems, the later has an interesting property called self-similarity. The flat band systems are very common as well as very interesting topic for both the theoretician and experimentalists from the perspective of photonic localization also in the context of strongly correlated systems. My focus of research is on some quasi-one-dimensional model systems having translational periodicity along horizontal direction and aperiodic or hierarchical sequence along transverse direction. The competition between the axial periodicity and transverse aperiodic growth makes the spectrum interesting enriched by a number of flat non-dispersive bands along with the co-existence of some dispersive ones. Another point of interest is to look into the fate of such dispersionless modes with the application of uniform magnetic perturbation. We are studying some model lattices and trying to work out analytically the existence of some non-dispersive states by studying the multifractal character of the spectrum. The spectral analysis I am doing for these kinds of systems is obtained by using real space renormalization group technique and green’s function method.
